Acrocorinth Fortress… mountain high

A nice trip up to the Acrocorinth Fortress is not only free, but so beautiful as well. With a pick of ruins to choose from, this one was on the way to Athens. It’s great for exploring if you’re into the more quiet side of travelling. You can really take your time here.

Big drop offs, steep steps, narrow paths

Let me be Frankish

Gorgeous wildflowers and views

It’s a good walk up, on very rocky paths, but once you get there, the views are supreme.

Rocky ruins sit peacefully

Inside the tower, an architectural gem

We’ve reached Athens and it is massive. A few days to explore will be the ticket, can’t wait.

Let’s get Shipwrecked

Driving up the coast from Gytheio and we came across a cool and very decorated shipwreck on the beach. Makes for some good art, what a canvas.

The beach was picturesque in every way

Along the drive and heading inland, we wind up and around mountaintops and beside a stunning cliff side Monastery in the middle of nowhere. An eerie site.

Boat in the bay, looks like rain

We’re in Nafplio for the night. It’s a cute little town, with old castle ruins and clear water. Such a vast country Greece is, and so pretty.

Coasting around Greece

The colours of Southern Greece are gorgeous and natural, including villages and homes made out of stone tumbling down cliffs into the turquoise waters below. Small villages are shaped and formed among olive trees and coastal flowers. It’s a lovely way to drive if you have the time.

Nice walk around the village of Limeni

Cats on the roof

Cute little round churches in Gytheio

Hilltop villages everywhere

When buildings match the view

We’re staying a night overlooking the sea. Nice place to refresh the soul and take it all in.

Kalamata… you only oh live once

Today we took a trip to Olympia to see the Ancient Olympic site and location of the Olympic Games. The ruins here are quite crumbled and we found the view pretty good from over the fence lol

The drive down the coast was great, through olive plantations and trees exploding with citrus. The land is fertile and lush in these parts and the beaches very scenic. We’re enjoying it here, having sailed over from the island this morning, it’s awesome to just keep driving.

Ancient Stadium at Olympia

Aquaduct leading to Methoni

The beautiful Methoni Castle

Castle gates were locked, but still a good visit
