Chateau Hopping

Getting into the swing of things here in the Loire Valley, with a trip along to see another beautiful Chateau. This one’s especially pretty and built over the river as a bridge which makes it unique. After the rain, we stay one night in a hotel before booking another night camping on an island in Amboise. There’s a lot to see in the town, with the big Chateau on the hill, the nice old town and caves built into the cliff. A really pretty town on the rivers edge.

Into the Loire Valley

A landscape of Chateau’s, of streets of old buildings, of rivers and gardens and stone… that’s how I’d describe the Loire Valley. We’re based in Amboise for a few days, plenty to see here. This morning started at the local market, a nice vibe.

Lattice buildings… all so old

Interesting towns to enjoy a stroll

Chateau de Chamont

Quirky and Smirky… love these pieces

French Vibe

Loving this… we’re weaving our way North West, with a couple of stops to visit the shops (French for Patisserie hehe).
We’re camping beside rivers, in small towns, under trees… escaping the heat. Now in the town of Autun.

Loved walking around Beaune

Chalon-sur-Saone… nice relaxed arty vibe

Nice chairs, and table

Autun… lots of Roman ruins here

Pretty quiet towns around here, but very authentic and a real French vibe. Loving the variety and the history.

Perouges… Cute wee town

We’ve been cruising the last few days, slowing the pace down to take in some authentic French flavour and beautiful landscapes. Looking at the map and we’ve got a few options… we’re heading towards the Loire Valley… via Burgandy and the surrounding wine area. It wouldn’t be complete without a few small towns sprinkled in. And Perouges is especially beautiful, and quiet.

Beautiful gardens all blooming

Nice steps

A charming and beautiful mix of old and new, very fresh.

First European Heatwave

We’ve just experienced our first heatwave in Europe, and have enjoyed (endured) it by camping beside Lake Bourget in the South East of France. The temps were late 30s all week, day and night, and the water was warm as. Did a bit of sightseeing, visiting some cool little towns around the lake. Would’ve taken pics, but my phone kept overheating lol.

Luc du Bourget… looks like Wanaka

Lots and lots of these fields on the way to Lyon

Fields of Gold everywhere too
