Leaning into Lisbon

We’re in Lisbon… and it’s been an interesting ride. Its narrow streets full of old trams and new cars, sometimes at a standstill, give it an interesting rushed and unhurried vibe. We walked around early as the markets were setting up, and with 3 cruise ships at the wharf, we joined the line of tourists offloading and walked into the centre. Not that we looked like cruise passengers mind you hahahaha… more like urban campers. We had fun, we had a rest and tomorrow we head to The Algarve to catch up with Mum on her tour.

Pretty Porto… Port of Call

The drive to Porto today was spectacular and well worth the journey on the non toll roads. We’re here for a couple of days to explore a little more of Portuguese culture and lifestyle. It’s one I like very much as it has a laid back and self sufficient vibe, a lot like New Zealand. And the egg tarts are delish.
First walk around today and a vino by the river, very nice.

Arty vibes everywhere

Colourful and neat

Markets here are really good

Skimming into Portugal

We’ve been spending time in the hills around Maseo Frio in Northern Portugal, getting back to nature and camping in a hilly vineyard, driving along northern Spain to get here. The drive took us alongside the El Camino (French Way), and we made the trip in a few hours to Santiago de Compostelo, and beyond to stay at the beach. It’s interesting here, and we’re yet to explore more of Portugal, heading to Porto tomorrow for a couple of days.

Pamplona… No Bull

We took a side trip to Pamplona today as we make our way across Northern Spain. Another interesting city to explore on foot, we enjoyed the best coffee and croissant, while making our way around all the streets the bulls would run.  We’re really getting back into the colourful Spanish vibe as we head to Portugal, and hopefully out of the rain.
